Katarzyna Wyszkowska’s "Omnia" in Cricoteka

CLOAKROOM 2023

Katarzyna Wyszkowska’s solo exhibition "Omnia" curated by Kamil Kuitkowski is on view in Cricoteka from 28.10 to 3.12.2023 as a part of Cloakroom 2023 program.

„Some would like to believe that everything depends on talent - this almost magical power given by the right set of genes or an external force. And that from this secret source code a genius is born, worth falling on one's knees before, putting them on stages, building temples and museums for them. Simple diagnoses sell easily. They also allow us to move away from the - perhaps dangerous - core of reality. In the exhibition Omnia, divided into a series of monumental gouaches and objects, Katarzyna Wyszkowska invites us to the sanctuary  of a genius where he performs a one-man show. The artist has often worked before on contemporary myths and stereotypes. This time, both in relation to the figure of Tadeusz Kantor and to the attempts in public discourse to work through the (often violent) attitudes of great masters of theater and art, she discusses the archetype of the infallible creator. Omnia wittily balances between aesthetics from religious and theatrical orders on the one hand, and from coarse school academies on the other. In doing so, she dismantles the overwhelming figure of the creator-messiah. It exposes its contemporary paperiness and one-dimensionality.” - excerpt from the press release.
